Swagat Urid Whole
Urid dal - black beans or black lentils - a popular Indian dal used in Indian soups and various curries. The beans are also used to make flour for Dosa and Papads. Urid is the seed of the Vigna Mungo. They are rich in fiber, minerals (iron, selenium, phosphorus, zinc), vitamin B6 and especially proteins, which is why Ayurveda recommends this legume product mainly to vegetarians. They have a rich nutty taste and a creamy texture.
Method of Preparation: Soak overnight. The next day, drain and cook in clean, unsalted water at a ratio of 1 part lentils to three parts water. Cook the beans for about 1-2 hours on low heat. Add hot water if necessary.
